Clint Bowyer (born May 30, 1979) is an American American Stock Cars (NASCAR) rider. He pilots Stewart-Haas Racing’s No. 14 Ford Fusion car in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Bowyer was a Nationwide Series champion in 2008. He went through several NASCAR teams including Richard Childress Racing, Michael Waltrip Racing, HScott Motorsports and currently Stewart-Haas Racing, replacing current boss Tony Stewart.
Clint is a controversial driver in the 2012 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. He was competing with Brad Keselowski and Jimmie Johnson when Jeff Gordon deliberately destroyed Bowyer’s car in the penultimate race of the season. incident was a retaliation to what Bowyer had done to Gordon earlier in the season, this drew his title hopes by falling to 3rd place in the standings. Due to a problem with Johnson’s car in the last race, Bowyer still had the runner-up, which was defeated by Keselowski.
In 2013, he became involved in a scandal, which became known as Richmondgate . In the last leg of the regular season, Clint Bowyer purposely rolled in the end of the race to bring a yellow flag. The incident benefited teammate Martin Truex, Jr., who managed to qualify for the Playoffs thanks to this yellow. Gordon was harmed because he was the leader of the event and only the victory would guarantee it in the Playoffs. Gordon was overtaken by Carl Edwards who won the race. Two days after the incident, NASCAR decided to exclude Truex from the Playoffs, and his seat thus passed to Ryan Newman, and Gordon was added in the Playoffs because NASCAR believes he was harmed after the incident. Following the discovery of the Richmondgate, NAPA Auto Parts took out its patronage of Truex, which was eventually dismissed from the team and moved to small Furniture Row Racing the following year, Michael Waltrip’s team, which was a winning team in the category, dropped a lot of level after the loss of sponsorships and severe fines, and after the 2015 season closed its doors. In 2016, Bowyer was then to the perhaps smaller team of the grid at the time, HScott Motorsports, in 2017 to take the place left by Tony Stewart, who retired.
