Daniel Pipes (Boston, September 9, 1949) is an American historian, writer and journalist, active member of the pro-Israel lobby in the United States and a media figure in American neoconservatism. / p>
A US foreign policy specialist, notably for the Middle East, also works on Wikistrat, a business consulting and geo-strategic analysis firm.1 He is the son of US historian Richard Pipes.
After earning a PhD from Harvard (1978) and conducting studies in other countries, Pipes has taught at several universities such as Harvard, Chicago, Pepperdine, and U.S. Naval War College. Later, he was director of the Foreign Policy Research Institute, before founding in 1990 the Middle East Forum, a neoconservative think tank, promotion of American and Zionist interests in the Middle East – including regular oil supplies at low cost. Pipes is also editor of the Middle East Forum newspaper – the Middle East Quarterly> – and columnist for the New York Sun and the Jerusalem Post . In addition, he is a regular commentator on North American television, appearing in programs such as ABC World News, CBS Reports, Crossfire, Good Morning America and others. He is also interviewed on television channels in other countries, such as the BBC and Al Jazeera. His articles are published in numerous newspapers and magazines, such as Atlantic Monthly, Commentary, Foreign Affairs, Harper’s National Review , New Republic , Policy Review, and The Weekly Standard , Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and others.
